Renegades continue push towards postseason at LPC Hawk Invitational

LIVERMORE – The Ohlone College swim team returned to action for the two-day Las Positas College Hawk Invitational that got underway on Friday, March 29.

Highlights from the meet included impressive efforts from Michelle Valdez, Christopher James, and Thomas Aung.

Michelle Valdez- 50 Fly
Valdez had an incredible 50 Fly swim, finishing with a time of 33.82 and finishing in the top-20 of all swimmers. It was another solid performance from Valdez who is in her first season swimming competitively for Ohlone.

"We're excited to see what she does as we approach the postseason," said Ohlone swim coach Elias Mendez.

Christopher James- 200 Free
The sophomore sprinter ventured to the 200 freestyle and had an awesome swim. James finished with a time of 2:01.64, which dropped over 8 seconds from his entry time.

"He is gearing up to have a dominant month of April to close out the season," said Mendez.

Thomas Aung- 50 Fly
Freshman Thomas Aung had a number of impressive swims at Las Positas. But above all, he finished his 50 Fly event with a time of 28.97, which dropped nearly 7 seconds from the time he was entered at and snuck him into the top-25 of a highly-competitive event at the meet.

"Thomas has continued to show his versatility in the water all season long," Mendez said.

The Renegades will be back in action for the final meet of the regular season. Ohlone is set to compete at the Chabot Invitational, also held at Las Positas College, on April 6.
