Bio

Ohlone Coaching Experience
 
Coach Mendez has played an instrumental role the past few seasons with Ohlone's Men's Water Polo Program, helping the Renegades to back-to-back CCCAA NorCal Regional Appearances and helping in the recruitment and development of numerous All-Americans. The Renegades are happy to announce the promotion of Coach Elias Mendez to become the next Men's Head Water Polo Coach for the upcoming 2022 season. "As an alumnus of the program, it's an honor to be named our next Men's Head Coach at Ohlone. I'm looking forward to building on the recent successes the program has enjoyed, while empahsizing the holistic development of our student-athletes, in and out of the water." - Coach Mendez
 
Playing Experience
 
Coach Elias Mendez grew up in Fremont, where he graduated from Washington High School with Coach Youhanna in 2012. Mendez was a First-Team All-League Goalkeeper for the Huskies and also helped lead Washington to an MVAL Championship. His Club playing experience includes Ohlone, Stanford and 680. After graduating from Washington, Elias attended and played for Ohlone College while earning his AA degree. As a freshman at Ohlone, he was selected as a Second-Team All-Conference Goalie, and in 2014 earned First-Team honors within the Coast Conference. After transferring to San Jose State he was part of the Men’s Water polo team during the 2015 season.
