Renegades split home doubleheader with Reedley

FREMONT – The Ohlone College softball team picked up another win on Saturday as the Renegades defeated visiting Reedley College by a final score of 11-3 in the opening game of a non-conference doubleheader.
Ohlone nearly came away with a sweep but couldn't hold off a late Reedley rally that resulted in a narrow 4-3 loss in the Game 2.
Game 1: Ohlone 11, Reedley 3
The Renegades got offensive in the opener as the squad banged out 11 hits. Holding a 5-3 advantage after the four innings, Ohlone blew the game open with a six-run, fifth-inning rally.
Sienna Vigil (2 for 2, 3B), Brittney Taylor (2 for 3), and Mahliyah Ortiz-Lucero (1 for 2) all had 2 RBI and scored a pair of runs to help lead the offense. Jade Johnson and Logan Pagsolingan both had 2 hits each with a double.
In the circle, Ortiz-Lucero allowed 3 runs and 2 hits over 4 innings in the start.
Game 2: Ohlone 4, Reedley 3
After collecting 11 hits in the opener, Ohlone totaled 12 hits in the finale but ultimately left 10 on base. The Renegades erased a 2-0, first-inning deficit by scoring single runs in the third, fifth, and sixth innings to take a 3-2 lead.
But Reedley salvaged a split by scoring a pair of runs in the top of the seventh.
Taylor led Ohlone at the plate by going 3 for 4 with a double and RBI. Johnson was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Alina Sanchez (1 for 3) knocked in the Renegades other run.
Sanchez took the loss in the circle despite allowing just 1 earned run and 4 hits over the seven-inning complete game effort.
Ohlone moved to 13-15 overall. The Renegades are back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 2) at noon when they host College of the Siskiyous in another non-conference doubleheader.
