Ohlone's Gallagher Enjoys Magnificent Seven (RBI) In Romp

Renegades enter week riding a four-game win streak

Ohlone first baseman Michael Gallagher had a dream game with seven RBI in a 17-1 rout of host Mendocino on Feb. 23, the Renegades’ fourth consecutive triumph.
Gallagher was 4 of 5 from the plate, with a two-run single in the third inning, RBI triple in the fifth and a two-run bomb in the seventh. He tacked on single RBIs on a fielder’s choice and a walk.
Ohlone amassed 19 hits in the blowout. Luke O’Brien, Bradley Norton and Cody Nisbet stroked doubles for Ohlone (10-4). Jordan Mello and Matt Benavidez each had two RBI.
Starter Peter Van Loon (3-1) went five strong for the win, striking out six and walking none. He allowed no earned runs.
In a 9-5 win over Mendocino on Feb. 22, Zach Patterson was 4 for 4 with four RBI. He launched a two-run homer in the seventh. Brett Tressen was a productive 2 for 4 with a double and three runs scored. Dalton Vanhille scored twice, and Gallagher doubled. Ryan Robinson (3-0) got the pitching win, allowing three earned runs over 6.0 innings, striking out six and walking three.
The versatile Patterson nailed it down pitching a spotless ninth.
Ohlone also swept a doubleheader over Porterville on Feb. 20, 10-0 and 15-2.
In the 10-0 win, Dalton Vanville tripled and three Renegades had doubles: Tressen, Nisbet and Max Heverly. Three pitchers combined on the shutout: starter Tyler Stultz, Van Loon and Stas Kuntz.
Ohlone hammered out 15 hits in the 15-2 win. Center fielder Beto Artero was 2 for 5 with two runs, a double and two RBI. Tressen was 3 for 5 with a double, two runs and two RBI. O’Brien tripled.
WOMEN’S SOFTBALL
The Ohlone softball team scored three in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a dramatic 10-7 win over Mission-Los Angeles in Bakersfield, after the Renegades dropped a 2-1 nail-biter against host Bakersfield.
The Renegades broke out the big bats against Mission-L.A., amassing 13 hits. Right fielder Sofia Castro had four RBI and center fielder Alyanna Martinez was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Leadoff Julissa Rodriguez, DP Karina Aguilar and first baseman Ashley Silva all had two hits. Silva added two runs scored and two RBI.
Reliever Karen Didio set up the winning rally by pitching a scoreless eighth inning, striking out two. Ohlone starter Alana Beard struck out nine over seven innings.
Ohone also took a 9-0 win (5 innings) over Diablo Valley College on Feb. 19. Brooke Niewoehner paced the offense with two doubles and three RBI. Arrianna Whitlock and Didio both had two RBI. Gabby Moreno had a big game from the leadoff spot with two hits and four runs scored, and No. 2 hitter Lauryn Garcia was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Didio tossed five scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and no walks, allowing three hits.
