Ohlone Back in National Rankings

Ohlone Back in National Rankings

For the fifth straight season, Ohlone College baseball has found itself in a familiar place - back among the nation's top teams.  Ohlone debuts this week at 13th in Perfect Game's National Junior College Rankings.  Ohlone is the highest ranked California team in the poll (only Orange Coast joined Ohlone in the rankings).  Ohlone currently sits at 17-2 (11-1 in the Coast Conference) on the 2021 season, with eight games remaining.

The Renegades are currently led by starting pitchers Cooper Vasquez (6-0, 1.11 ERA) and Tyler Stutlz (4-0, 2.43 ERA).  Vasquez has been up to 91 mph this season while Stultz sits 86-88 with a slider and change-up.  On offense, Matt Palomino is having another stellar year with a .444 average and 8 doubles, 3 triples, and 3 homeruns.  Jaden Sheppard has blasted four homeruns (#1 in the Coast Conference) and Norman Leon leads the state in stolen bases with 17.  The offense has been hot all-season, and currently ranks in the Top 10 in the state in nearly every single offensive category.  A total of 11 Renegades are batting over .300, with Palomino, Bradlee Preap (.400), and Nate Van Patten (.500) leading the way.

Ohlone closes out the 2021 season in a quest for their 4th straight Coast Conference title, and 5th in six seasons.   The Gades play at Contra Costa on Wednesday, May 26th and then finish the year with seven straight games against Monterey Peninsula.
