Albert Chow selected to lead new Ohlone Women’s Badminton program

FREMONT – Ohlone College Dean of Kinesiology, Athletics and Arts Chris Warden has announced the hiring of Albert Chow as the college first-ever women's badminton head coach. The Renegades are set to play their inaugural season during the spring of the upcoming 2023-24 school year.

Warden is excited to launch women's badminton at Ohlone and looks forward to seeing the new program excel under Chow's leadership.

"Women's badminton is a sport Ohlone has been looking at bringing on for a while now," said Warden. "One of our last pieces was to find a coach who would have the drive and desire to take on the inaugural season.  Coach Albert Chow is the exact person we were looking for and Ohlone is very excited to support his efforts towards establishing this new program as a front-runner, on and off the court, for the Northern California area."

Chow, a Bay Area native, played badminton at Cupertino High School and eventually returned to coach the sport at CHS in 2016. He was head coach during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, leading the Pioneers to four CIF/CCS singles and doubles championships.

He has spent the last three years serving as head coach at Mission College in Santa Clara. Chow is a 2010 graduate of UC Davis, earning a degree in sociology.
