Renegades Celebrate End Of Season With Four All-Conference Selections and a Playoff Berth

The last few weeks of the season did not go as planned for the Renegades. Four of their last five matches ended in tough losses, and one match even saw starting outside hitter Marlene-Alexia Perez de Vilchez go down with a season-ending knee injury. However, that wouldn't be enough to hold the Renegades down from experiencing post season accolades. On Wednesday night outside hitter and team captain Clare Mannion Deal would receive a second consecutive year selection to the Coast Conference North All-Conference 1st Team, and she would be joined by fellow Spaniard and freshmen outside hitter Marlene-Alexia Perez de Vilchez. Starting setter Ruby Santos and libero Dana Lo would also receive recognition and were selected to the Coast Conference North All-Conference 2nd Team.

Selection Thursday the following day would be a nerve-racking one for the Renegades as they awaited their post season fate. Finally, in the afternoon the team was notified that they qualified for the 2021 playoffs as the #17 seed and would take on fellow Coast Conference North foe Hartnell College in the play-in rounds. Some key wins in the early part of the season and their strength of schedule may have been the deciding factor for qualification, but it most definitely involved the strong play throughout the season of the team's four all-conference selections. 

The Renegades travel to Salinas Saturday, November 20 to take on the #16 seed Panthers of Hartnell College for a 7pm match. The previous two match ups between these two teams had the Panthers taking both matches, but the Renegades did manage to take 3 of the 9 sets played and hope to use those successes to their advantage. The team hopes you can join them and help root them on as they try to advance to the next round for the second time in the last three seasons.
