OHLONE A HOT SPOT FOR PLAYOFFS

OHLONE A HOT SPOT FOR PLAYOFFS

As a reward for a sensational spring, Ohlone College will be an action spot Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 as the baseball and softball teams will host best-of-three game series to open the CCCAA NorCal playoffs.
Here's a look at the matchups:
BASEBALL: The No. 4 seeded Ohlone baseball team (34-6), which finished the regular season with a 12-game winning streak, will host No. 13 College of the Sequoias (24-16). The game times are set for 2 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday, along with a 3 p.m. game Saturday, if necessary. The Renegades, guided by head coach Mike Curran, feature a stellar 1-2 punch in starting pitchers Ethan Skuija (11-1, 1.14 ERA) and Cal State East Bay-bound Brian Martinez (9-1, 2.58), along with Cal State Fullerton signee AJ Curtis at first base who is No. 3 in the state with a .438 batting average.

Curtis hit two home runs and Ryan Walstad smacked two triples to highlight a win over Monterey Peninsula to complete the regular season, marking Ohlone's 29th consecutive conference victory over a two-year span. The double-play tandem of Walstad and shortstop Miguel Cazares form one of the state's middle infield duos.
For Sequoias, sophomore Arthur Joven (9-1, 3.18 ERA) leads the pitching staff, and sophomore infielder Wyatt Tilley has 43 RBI and a .392 batting average with 15 doubles.
