Renegades begin 2025 with three-game sweep at San Bernardino Valley

SAN BERNARDINO – The 2025 Ohlone College baseball season got off to a tremendous start as the Renegades opened with a three-game weekend sweep at San Bernardino Valley College.

The Renegades picked up a 10-4 victory in Thursday's opening-day contest, rallied past SBVC 12-8 on Friday, and completed the sweep with an amazing 11-10 come-from-behind win on Saturday.

Will Anderson went a combined 8 for 15 (.533) over the series with 3 doubles, a home run and 7 RBI while Brendan Comerford also had a big weekend by driving in 11 runs while going 6 for 12 (.500) with 3 doubles and a home run as well.

Game 1: Ohlone 10, SBVC 4
The Renegades set the tone for a big offensive weekend early by putting up five runs in the top of the second inning. Anderson went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI to lead Ohlone at the plate while Gavin Shaddix was 1 for 2 with a double, RBI, and scored 3 runs after walking three times.

Matthew Foley earned the opening-day win after tossing 5 scoreless innings. He allowed 3 hits and struck out three batters. Kai Maynick picked up the three-inning save to close out the victory.

Game 2: Ohlone 12, SBVC 8
Ohlone rallied for eight runs over the final two innings to erase an 8-4 deficit and pull out the win in Friday's contest.

Comerford's three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning broke an 8-8 tie and proved to be the game-winner. He had a huge game, going 4 for 5 with the homer, double, and 5 RBI.

Anderson (3 for 5), Ben Johnston (2 for 4), and Tucker Biehl (2 for 4) all drove in a pair of runs to help fuel the comeback.

Teru Khan earned the win in relief after throwing 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Diego Menjivar got the save by striking out four over a pair of perfect innings.

Game 3: Ohlone 11, SBVC 10
Another game, another comeback for the Renegades. San Bernardino Valley jumped out to a 9-2 lead after three innings before Ohlone put up 2 runs in the fourth, 2 more in the seventh, and went ahead with a five-run, eighth-inning rally.

Teagan Reilly came through with a two-run double in the top of the eighth before Comerford capped an amazing weekend with a game-winning, bases-clearing double to give the Renegades the lead for good.

Reilly was solid in the contest, going 4 for 6 with 2 runs and 2 RBI while Comerford ended 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and 5 RBI.

Anderson went to the mound and closed out the win with three scoreless innings for the victory in relief. He also drove in a pair of runs at the plate, going 2 for 5 with a double.

Up next: Ohlone, now 3-0, returns to action on Wednesday (Feb. 5) when it hosts Contra Costa College in its home opener at 1:30 p.m.
