HAYWARD – The 2023-24 Ohlone College men's basketball season got off to a solid start over the weekend as the Renegades compiled a 2-1 record to finish in third place at the John L. Wagner Memorial Classic. The three-day event was hosted by Chabot College.

Second-year head coach Jordan Lee and his squad were victorious in their season-opener, defeating Shasta College 79-53 on Thursday. Ohlone had a tougher time on Friday in the tourney semifinals but battled No. 18 state-ranked Fresno City College in a narrow 73-72 loss. But the Renegades were able to bounce back with a win in the third-place game and close the tourney with an 86-65 triumph over Middlebrooks Academy.

In Friday's contest vs. Shasta, the Renegades built a 39-21 halftime advantage before cruising to the win. Ohlone used its size to outrebound the Knights by an impressive 60-24 margin.
