Third straight win propels Ohlone to No. 22 state ranking

FREMONT – The Ohlone College men's basketball team has cracked the state's top-25 rankings. On Monday, the Renegades were ranked No. 22 in this week's California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCMBCA) State Poll.

Ohlone climbed four spots from the No. 26 position in the Jan. 2 poll thanks to three consecutive victories. Ohlone is now 11-6 overall.

On Friday, the Renegades opened Coast Conference North Division play with a narrow 70-69 win over previously No. 22 state-ranked Skyline College. Jason Cibull led the way with 18 points and 7 assists.

Nebiyu Teklemariam and Adam Zalmai both contributed 11 points each while Matthew Villanueva added 10 points.

Ohlone is back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 17) when the Renegades travel to No. 24 Las Positas College for a 7 p.m. Coast Conference North Division game.
