Renegades end regular season with Sophomore Night sweep of Las Positas

FREMONT – The Ohlone College women's volleyball team wrapped up the 2023 regular season with an impressive 3-0 win over visiting Las Positas College on Monday.

The Renegades won four of its last six matches to close out the regular season with a 16-16 overall record while they finished third in the Coast Conference South Division at 6-4.

The Renegades are hoping Monday's contest won't be their last. Ohlone is looking to be one of 20 teams selected for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs. Brackets are set to be announced on Thursday.

If Monday was their final match, the Renegades went out in dominant fashion by cruising to a 25-13, 25-5, 25-16 sweep. Gabriella Rachal led with Ohlone offense with 9 kills to go with 7 digs.

Savannah Le posted 8 kills while Alina Kalpin added 6. Zoe Greer paced the offense with 27 assists. On the defensive end, Marian Orschel had a team-high 8 digs.

SOPHOMORES HONORED

Although freshmen on the court, Orschell and Greer are planning to graduate this spring and will be transferring from the program.
