LIVERMORE – Freshmen Ariana Leyva and Teagan Rees both score 5 goals each to lead the Ohlone College women's water polo team in a 16-11 Coast Conference loss at Las Positas College on Friday.
The Renegades fell behind early and trailed 7-1 after the first quarter. A 15-4 halftime deficit was too much too overcome despite Ohlone outscoring Las Positas 7-1 over the final two quarters.
Leyva added a pair of assists and 4 steals while Rees had 2 assists as well with 2 steals. Freshman Karen Di Dio also scored for the Renegades.
Freshman goalie Maia Gomes Medeiros did her best to keep Ohlone in the game and posted 6 saves.
It has been a tough start for new head coach Lisa Cooper and her Renegades. The squad is 0-5 to start the season despite scoring 11 goals in each of its last three games. Ohlone will face a tough test on Wednesday (Oct. 9) when the Renegades travel to West Valley College for a 4:15 p.m. Coast Conference game.
